Growing up, my dad taught me two things:
1. Classic rock is king.
2. Never throw anything out.
For these reasons, he'd be thrilled to learn that vinyl is "in" again. Collecting vinyl is a "hipster" thing to do, so it's only natural that I had to go to 5 Points to do it in.
After turning to the experts (aka, asking on Facebook), I was directed to Deep Search to look for some new albums for my collection.
Deep Search Records is located in 5 Points. I've only been to the area a few times, so I decided to make a morning of it. After having brunch (and two cold brews) from BREW, I walked over to Deep Search to find some vinyl. I just bought a record player a few weeks ago, and I've started to get tired of listening to the same few records over and over.
Deep Search has a bunch of sections of vinyl to search (sorry) through: rock, r&b, vocalists, soundtracks, and other. There's also a big rack of clearance selections, including the Alvin and the Chipmunks soundtrack.
There's also a shelf of books and, yes, cassette tapes. I don't really know if cassettes are about to be popular again too (why?), but Deep Search already has a shelf to pick from. My friend texted me to get the King Missile cassette, but alas, I left it on the rack.
Since I'm from Long Island, it was only natural that I'd pick up a classic from LI's favorite son: Billy Joel. Deep Search gets in new stuff all the time, so I'll definitely be back to find something for my collection.
Just, you know, no cassettes.
