Note: As a BibRave Pro, I was sent a FlipBelt to test out and review. While I received the product for free, I was not compensated in any other way for this review. All opinions/pictures are my own!
If you're like me, you aren't exactly a "minimalist" when it comes to bringing things with you on a run. Over the summer, my long runs required a lot of water, energy gels, music, and my car keys. I relied on my Fuel Belt (with all four bottles filled) to tote everything around, which led to a very crammed compartment:
In fact, I had brought 4 gels with me on my last long run. There was so much stuff that I had to bring another belt with me just to hold my gels! It was awkward and really uncomfortable to carry, but since I only went 14 miles (wahhhhh) it's not like it lasted forever, right?
Thanks to BibRave, the fantastic people at FlipBelt sent me one of their products to try out. I've heard incredible things about this product, and I was really excited to try it out. Except...I still can't run. Now, I walked a little with it on, so while I can say it's comfortable for walking, I can't give you an honest review of how it feels during a run. When I can run, I'm going to wear it to test it out. In the meantime, here's all about fitting things in it! My fellow BibRave Pros Sarah and Angie have already posted their reviews, complete with running comfort results!
First things first - the people at FlipBelt were awesome to work with/order from. Shipping was fast, and my belt even arrived a day earlier than the tracking site said it would! There are a lot of colors to choose from, but since I like bright things, I went with pink.
Above is what I usually carry with me for longer runs. I recently upgraded to the iPhone 6, which left me the trouble of finding a new case. I refuse to carry my phone when I run (I'm clumsy and Ill drop it if I'm holding it), but I am yet to find an arm band that protects the phone from the elements. That's another reason I was so excited for the belt - no need to buy another phone case for running!
Look, it fits! The FlipBelt has a unique design that lets you shove your stuff in to the pockets that wrap all the way around the belt. After you fit everything...
You FLIP it over...
And bam! Your stuff is safe and you're ready for your run. Now, this looks really bulky because it's on the floor, but when you put it on...
It stays comfy! There is enough padding in the belt that you don't have keys rubbing against your hips. Even with everything in the belt, I was walking around my apartment and forgot it was there. I'm excited to try running with it!
So far I definitely recommend the FlipBelt to any runners/walkers/cyclists. And if you don't run/walk/bike, it would make the perfect gift for anyone you know who does!
