45 days out from Rock n Roll Vegas, and I (knock on wood) seem to be getting into a groove running wise. I knock on wood there because each time I start ramping up my running...BOOM. Injury. But so far I've stayed on top of my hip/glute strengthening exercises, so let's see where we're at...a few days late for a regular training update post.
Monday, September 19: The best (sarcasm) part of Florida is the random thunderstorms. I went to the town center with every intention of running, but the lightning and torrential downpour thought otherwise. So, to the gym at my apartment complex where I did the elliptical. Snore.
Tuesday, September 20: 1st Place Sports has a new group run on Tuesdays at Wicked Barley, which is a new brewery over on Baymeadows. There are two routes - a 3.5 mile one, and a 5 mile one. I stuck with 3.5 and ended up going faster than I've gone in a while. After, I rewarded myself with a (free!) blueberry lager, and I won a prize pack from Under Armour!
Wednesday, September 21: Elliptical at the gym. Snore.
Thursday, September 22: 5.1 miles (in 51:09) at the Town Center, plus this beautiful sunset. I used to say that when I could do 5 miles on a not-long run day, that I would know that I was getting better on the injury front. And, here we are!
Friday, September 23: Elliptical at the gym. More snore. My friend and I were going to go to Charlotte for the weekend, but with the protests we thought it would be safer to stay home. This meant a lot of laying around being lazy since I was off work for a few days.
Saturday, September 24: Rest day!
Sunday, September 25: 10 miles at an average of 10:53 pace, plus that nifty sorta sunrise picture at the top of this post. This is my first double digit run since.........February. But, since that February run saw my IT band flare up, I don't like to count it. I'm getting closer to the half distance again!
I'm Jenn! I'm a baker, blogger, sorta-runner, and writer living in Jacksonville, Florida!
