You know how people tend to "impulse shop?" If they see something by the register, they'll scoop it up - that's why stores put magazines and things like gum close to the checkout lane. You're in line, looking around, and you decide you need a new pack of mints.
I don't do that. I impulse shop for baking mixes.
During my last trip to Walmart, I needed cheese and coffee creamer. While I was there, I figured I'd look at the baking section. My Walmart has a little thing set up with special boxes and bags of mix for fudge, funfetti cupcakes, and holiday flavored things, including...
I was equal parts confused, bothered, and intrigued. Since the bag was only like $1.50, I picked it up. My coworkers will literally eat anything, so I knew someone would try them.
The mix is really easy to follow - throw everything in the bag in with a stick of butter and an egg. As soon as I mixed it all up, all I could smell was maple syrup. I baked them up and waited till they were cool to try one.
The verdict? They taste like pancakes in cookie form. They're extremely sweet, and the only "bacon" I sense in them are the little specks of coloring. They're pretty good though, and if you like maple syrup they're perfect for you. I'm more of a chocolate person, so I probably won't make these again.
My coworkers? They ate them all.
Chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate! And sometimes, real food!
