You know when you're craving sweets, but you know you shouldn't eat them? Last night I was at Target and I really wanted a reason to bake. When I remembered it was an old coworker's birthday today, I grabbed stuff to make my favorite dessert recipe so I could drop it off at the office this morning.
Note: I use boxed brownie mix, because I'm lazy. If you want to make brownies from scratch, go for it! Just make sure you make enough to fit a family sized pan (9 X 13).
Prep your brownie mix according to the box. I used applesauce in place of oil, since I have no olive oil in the house and I'm too cheap to buy any. Pour about 2/3 of the mix into the pan and spread it out so it coats the bottom.
Arrange the Oreos like you see above. 4X6 will fit your pan perfectly. You'll have some remaining cookies - don't eat them! Spoon the rest of the batter over each Oreo so when it spreads out, it basically coats all the cookies. Crumble the remaining Oreos on top. Bake according to the box (350 for about 25 minutes depending on your oven). I cut mine while they're hot because I find it to be easier while the Oreo is melted.
Chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate! And sometimes, real food!
